Unit standard- 119567 is a 2- day course with 40 hours of homework where the summative assessment needs to be completed and signed off at work or school and a formative assessment to follow in class with practical testing is required.

Theory: scene and patient safety. Communicable disease and prevention, vital signs, basic human anatomy, shock, bleeding control, fractures, seizures and head injury, burns. CPR infant, adults and choking.

Practical: vitals, splinting, bandaging, Cardio pulmonary resuscitation and Heimlicht maneuver
